Jon Tritschler Howe

Graduated from Emory 1974. After a few years learning to ski and climb in Colorado, i missed the water too much and moved to Seattle in 1978. My brother, Marc, died in 1982 (from lymphoma) and at the end of that year i married Christine Howe (she was a dance major, became a massage practitioner; and in 2006 died after battling brain cancer). Our son, Tyler, was born in 1984 (he entered the UW Physical Therapy program in 2013 – proud papa). After working in the yachting industry for 30 years, my company went bankrupt in 2009. That was my cue to sell the house, buy the boat and sail away and in 2013 i sailed back (you can read about those trips at akimboandcrew.blogspot.com). Between those trips i spent two years helping my parents (who still live in the house they built 52 years ago). And after those years...i continue to live aboard my boat. I've been lucky and healthy and life has been too good for words. Now to not waste what's left.

I'm afraid "oblivious jon" is still one of my titles. I don't have a story to recall, but i might remember one you tell. Mostly, thank you to all of you from so long ago in such formative years - and that means more of you than you might guess (and my apologies to anyone i owe one to). By the way - Jane Kuypers went to Emory at the same time i did. Years later, living in Seattle, when my family and i went nordic skiing…she and her family got out of the car that parked behind us. Yes, way! We traded numbers but somehow didn't connect again. She looked happy and well.
